Considerations when choosing men’s watches
Buying men’s watches isn’t really an easy thing to do especially if you are a woman, it’s your first time of shopping for a watch or you just don’t know what describes a man’s watch. There are so many questions that you often ask when you are planning to buy a watch as a man. You might not know what you will need exactly with you so as to make the right choice of a watch but what you need is the right insight on what to look for when shopping for men’s watches.
With this in mind, there are several considerations that one has to understand about men’s watches. These include the following:
External features
Knowing the external features of a man’s watch is the beginning of shopping. There are several external features that will fall under this and these include style of the watch, its color, brand, design, strap style, material and case material. In styles, watches for men cover pretty much everything from dress, designer, classic and sports watches. Cases for men’s watches are usually made up of resins, brass, plastic or stainless steel. Sophisticated case materials such as gold-plated base metals and gold-filled metals are also a good choice to go with. Crystal types are often plastic, mineral glass and synthetic sapphire.
Most of these watches come with the straps made up of leather, steel, gold and several other metals. This makes very good straps for a man to show off his watch. Dial styles for men’s watches are not specific. They can be either digital or analog, though most men prefer analog watches.
Internal features
The internal features to look for in a man’s watch are simply the jewel number, water resistance and the functions. The jewel numbers range from 17, 56 and 100. Water resistance is also an important aspect of man’s watch just in case there are any emergencies. The ranges in water resistance include watches that can endure gentle splash, swimming, splashing in a pool, sport diving and finally to more serious and deeper diving.
The functions are what men usually look for in their watches. The more complicated the watch is in terms of functions, the better it is. These functions include features such as calendars, perpetual calendars, chronographs and chronometers. However, there are those men that like simple and standard men’s watches that only tell the hours, minutes and seconds.
Watch movement types
There are several watch movements when it comes to choosing watches for men. Mechanical chronographer is one of the movement types. You can wind it by using both manual and automatic technique. Your wrist’s movement is associated with its automatic part. Quartz chronographer is the second. This does not require too much winding however you will need to replace its cell every now and then. The Eco drive Thermo types of watches for men came into being in 1999. This type of watches use the difference between the surrounding environment and the wearer’s wrist as the power source. They have made a huge part of men’s watches.
